Whiskey Myers

Three things come to mind when I think of Texas: football, country music, and everything being “Texas-sized”, but this small band out of Palestine, Texas has people turning their heads. Whiskey Myers is the name and they are making sure they you will never forget it.

A friend of mine introduced me to Whiskey Myers about a year ago and I have been pretty much hooked ever since. The first song that I had heard, “Ballad of a Southern Man, has that feel about it. That southern rock sound that is so addicting and it makes you want to bob your head and tap your foot. Not only that, but the lyrics have a touch of soul behind them. I can feel the emotion behind lyrics, “My first rifle was a .243 that Papa gave Daddy and Daddy gave to me.” They ring true because where I am from, that’s how must of us boys get our guns, hand-me downs from our father’s father. Then you hear the song, “Dogwood”, and it takes you back to those years when you think you know it all and all you are worried about is next Friday night. You have the girl of your dreams and not a care in the world, until the real world hits you. You could also go back as far as their record from 2008 and it’s just as good as their newer stuff. There really isn’t a bad song that they have released and their lyrical content is original and not repetitive of previous songs. I would have to say that one of my personal favorites from them is “American Outlaws”, off of their “Road To Life” record.

Overall this is a great band to listen to, great sound, truthful lyrics, and I have yet to hear a track about playing cornhole and lacing up some ”J’s”. You can find them on Facebook and they are on YouTube as well. Don’t forget to like “Like” Rebel One Entertainment on Facebook as well and follow both Rebel One and Tuned In on Twitter.

The following video is “Virginia” off of their second album.
