Cadillac Three

In this week’s t
uned in, we turn our attention to The Cadillac Three, featuring Neil Mason, Jaren Johnston and Kelby Ray. Since signing with one of the biggest record labels in country music, the band has released two singles, The Southand “Party Like You” and have been featured in an episode of ABC’s hit show, Nashville. The Cadillac Three or TC3 as many of their fans call them, have come a long way since when they first started. Originally known as The Cadillac Black, TC3 decided to change their name after signing with Big Machine Label Group. They posted a video on YouTube explaining why.

TC3’s music isn’t really comparable to anyone on the big labels, so to see that they are signed onto BMLG only gives me hope that their sound will be hitting the airwaves sooner rather than later. The first time that I listened to them, they caught me off guard, I really wasn’t expecting that southern rock sound from them. The song The Southis, in my opinion, one of those songs that will forever get the crowd rowdy. Its definitely one that will become a sing-along for some of those summer night bonfires at the beach. Every time I listen to it I can picture myself surrounded by friends screaming the lyrics at the top of my lungs not giving a care in the world. The chorus is addicting and the music makes you just want to look at the person next to you and go, Hell Yea, its all about the South.
Meanwhile you have songs like “Down To The River” that have soul and have a deeper meaning than whats on the surface. Then you come across “White Lightning”and it stop you dead in your tracks and you just listen. Poetic words put to a melody.

Lyrically, TC3 doesn’t recycle songs and each track is its own, which is a hard thing to come by when you write your own music.

On top of making great music to jam out to, they are also amazing songwriters, and in my opinion, thats what matters. Its cool that you can perform someone elses song, but if you have the talent to write AND perform your own music, that’s solid gold in my book. I have yet to hear a bad song by these guys, or to hear a bad song that has been written by them either. Add in the fact that they put on one heck of a show for their fans and you have the formula for success in country music, and its all in one package. Kelby Ray, Jaren Johnston and Neil Mason have an addicting sound, make sure that you take the time out to check these guys out if they come to your area, I can promise you that you will not be disappointed.
